Dr. Thomas and our team at Physician Artistry enjoy providing the latest in anti-aging facial rejuvenation. Medical microneedling of skin, also referred to as collagen induction therapy (CIT), is a relatively new concept aimed at stimulating the body’s own collagen and elastin production to tighten, lift and rejuvenate the skin, as well as reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, minimize pores, stretch marks, “crepey” skin, and scarring such as surgical and acne scars.

Modern techniques control the levels of dermal penetrations through the protective epidermis by an array of micro-needles whose depths are adjusted precisely by settings on the MD pen. Each of the thousands of micro-passages within the dermis activates and stimulates the cascade of normal positive wound healing by releasing growth factors for eventual collagen and elastin production and maturation.

The MD pen creates thousands of micro-channels for the delivery of cosmeceuticals, bio-active peptides, growth factors, as well as your own live platelets into your dermis for enhanced skin rejuvenation.

The treatment is virtually painless because of the action of a topical anesthetic gel, has a short recovery time (up to a few days), produces results as early as six weeks, has a high safety record, can be used for almost all skin types, and is frequently combined with other medical skin care programs, Botox and filler treatments. Maximal collagen induction for skin tightening and rejuvenation is usually observed by three to six months.

Preparing for your MD Pen appointment
