Common Questions About BOTOX

You hear a lot about BOTOX®, but what does it actually do? Would it help with something you’d like to change? By learning more about BOTOX®, it’s possible to decide if a few treatments would be right for you. Here are some of the more common questions people ask along with the answers you need to make a decision.

What Is BOTOX®?

BOTOX® is an injectable drug created to treat wrinkles on the face. It should only be administered by trained professionals. This ensures that the amount injected is enough to achieve the purpose but not enough to trigger any medical issues.

How Can It Be Used?

BOTOX® is often used to help smooth wrinkles. It works by temporarily relaxing the muscles found underneath the wrinkles. It can also be used to reduce fine lines on the forehead, so-called laugh lines, and other similar issues.

Will I Feel Any Discomfort?

Many patients report that they feel little to no discomfort during or after BOTOX® injections. A professional will conduct tests to determine if there is a strong potential for an adverse reaction prior to administering the injection.

How Long Before I See Results?

Depending on the reason for the BOTOX® injections, it’s normal to notice a difference in five days or less. For example, you may find that as the numb sensation fades, the fine lines or wrinkles begin to smooth somewhat after three days. By the fifth day, you can tell that the treatment has made a significant difference in the way you look. Give it two weeks before you see the full effect.

When Will I Need More Injections?

Most patients find that the results from the BOTOX® injections last for a minimum of four months. It’s rare for the results to last longer than five months. If you did well with the right round of treatment, there is no reason why you can’t go back for a second round when you notice the lines and wrinkles returning.
